When we go to recipes where we basically have to go and buy a roll of puff pastry or shortcrust pastry, we know ahead of time that we’re going to make a super good recipe and a quick and easy recipe. Today we will prepare a strudel, but we leave the dessert scheme, today we prepare a savory strudel with sausages and mushrooms, good, delicate and with a flavor typical of the winter season.

I love mushrooms because we can really do whatever we want with them, from first course to second course, through seasoning creams or as an accompaniment to meat to finger food. In short, sausages and mushrooms are the wedding we’ve been waiting for, and with the puff pastry already ready, the word wait becomes inappropriate. It’s super fast.

Sausage and mushroom strudel

We call it simply puff pastry roll with sausage and mushrooms, but I prefer to call it strudel, I don’t know, it’s more Christmassy.

Ingredients

1 puff pastry roll

150 g of mushrooms

salt

olive oil

pepper

130 g scamorza

200 g of sausage

First, we cook the sausages and mushrooms by placing the sausages in a non-stick pan, which we remove from the casing and crumble. Boil for a few minutes and add mushrooms to the same pan, which we have carefully rinsed and cut into small pieces, thin slices. The time will be a maximum of 10 minutes at medium temperature. Grate the scamorza and put it aside and take a roll of puff pastry, be careful, it must not be too cold in the fridge, otherwise it will break.

How to make sausage and mushroom strudel

Fill the roll with sausages and mushrooms, season with salt and pepper to taste and add grated scamorza. At this moment, it is enough to roll up our strudel and then fold both sides of the dough, closing the ends well so that the filling does not leak out. Make slits on the surface typical of strudel and bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes. When we see a golden surface, take it out of the oven, let it cool slightly and serve it cut into slices.
