An incurable disease, goodbye Davide Bertozzi: Rimini cycling in sadness

The Romagna cycling community is in mourning over the death of Davide Bertozzi, a 60-year-old, versatile athlete in the world of cycling. Originally from Sant’Ermete di Santarcangelo di Romagna, Bertozzi has left an indelible mark on local cycling and beyond.

Known for his exceptional ability to tackle the challenges of both mountain biking and road racing, Bertozzi has excelled and achieved top results at the amateur level, especially in Gran Fondos. His constant presence on the racing podium represented an icon of success and consistency in the world of two wheels.

Bertozzi also stood out for his commitment to organizing cycling-related youth events.

Known as a regular on the podium, Bertozzi was not only a champion, but also an extraordinary person, loved and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing will leave a deep void in the cycling community and in the lives of those who had the opportunity to share his passion for the sport.

Back in the 1990s, Bertozzi raced for the Cicli Matteoni cycling team, making a name for himself with remarkable performances in mountain bike races, often earning podium finishes and establishing himself as an exceptional talent tackling the most demanding routes.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the Church of Sant’Ermete.
