Destination Italia-Destination Florence, five events about studying abroad at Vieusseux

Florence, November 18, 2023 – Because dozens thousands of American students are they still coming to study in Florence? What are the reasons why studying abroad is still an economic and cultural benefit for Italy? These and other questions will be answered by five presidents of American universities in a series of lectures entitled “Destination Italy/Destination Florence” scheduled from 20th November from 6 to 7 p.m. in the reading room Vieusseux in Piazza Strozzi. The project was conceived by Gabinetto Vieusseux President Riccardo Nencini and Aacupi (Association of American College and University Programs in Italy) President Fabrizio Ricciardelli, who will also moderate debates with international specialists on global education. The meeting also focuses on various factors that come into play when choosing a study abroad trip, such as the image of Italy in American cinema, the image of the American in Italian cinema, the history of American Study Abroad as a descendant of the Grand Tour, and the cultural differences that American students recognize in their experience in Italy. The meetings will end with a discussion open to the public present. “Florence, the city of the world, is confronted with stories and passions coming from other continents, the best way to grow, create and learn. Without fear of diversity,” said President Nencini. “The phenomenon of Study Abroad brings several tens of thousands of American students in Italy, and the presence of American students is now an important economic and cultural reality for our territory,” said President Ricciardelli.
