Tomatoes in the greenhouse: maximize yield already after transplanting

What goals to achieve after transplantation?

After transplanting, new seedlings are exposed to various types of stress, so it is first necessary to create an environment suitable for root development in the soil. But at high temperatures special care must be taken to avoid “vegetative excesses”.

  • First of all, it works he supported radical developmentnot only of the primary root, but also of the secondary and root hair. The uniform development of the entire root system, on the one hand, eliminates possible disorders and post-transplantation crises and, on the other hand, guarantees effective absorption of water and nutrients extended over time;
  • since these are plants that often return to the same soil, they go limited those biotic and abiotic factors which can limit root development and reduce its effectiveness. We are not only talking about nematodes, alternaria and other harmful microorganisms, but also about restore fertility conditions physical, chemical and microbiological that help plants develop and produce at their best;
  • with high temperatures, next to one proper water managementthey go limit excesses of nitrogen to prevent the formation of “stray” plants. It is therefore important to promote the creation of more compact plants with shorter internodes, a factor that also affects the production potential, thanks to the increase in “production phases”;
  • the last factor, but only in chronological order, is the factor predict entry into productionwhich makes it possible to increase the number of “production cycles” and consequently the producer’s income.

Are there tools to achieve these goals?

Fortunately, yes, thanks to the constant innovation of technical means in agriculture. What products to use and when?

Ground application:

  • before transplant, Fertile AND Progress Micro NPK 6-5-13 + MgO+SO3 are two solid formulations for soil application based on Agrogel®which enable proper restoration of soil fertility and nutritional support continuous and extended, without “vegetative” excesses. They can be used separately or in combination, depending on the characteristics of the terrain.

As an alternative to Fertil and in case of nematodes, it is a suitable choice IlsaNeem, an organic fertilizer with a high content of organic carbon and slowly releasing organic nitrogen, also containing neem cake, i.e. with a proven “nematostatic” effect. IlsaNeem enables in a single operation effectively nourishes and limits the negative influence of soil insects.

How to intervene in fertigation?

  • Immediately after transplanting, fertigation application with IlsaStim+ allow the required root development. IlsaStim+ is a real rooting agent based on an enzymatic hydrolyzate of Fabaceae, which when applied once or twice at a dose of 0.5 kg/1000 m2 allows greater and harmonious development of the entire root system. In case of problematic soils or to exponentially increase the rooting effect, the IlsaStim+ application can be combined with IlsaOrgamit-RGelamine-based product with a specific effect®with amino acids, oligopeptides and selected microorganisms such as mycorrhizae, Trichoderma and rhizosphere bacteria, which restore ideal conditions in the soil for root development.

  • After applications after transplantation, at still high temperatures, Ilsa Policos balances the vegetative development of new plants by maintaining them more compact and with closer internodes. Easy to mix with IlsaDeepdown or other phosphorus-based preparations, this plant biostimulant also increases the efficiency of root absorption and it prepares the plants for flowering, thereby preventing them from entering production;
  • at the end of autumn-beginning of winter, with the lowering of temperatures, nutritional management in the greenhouse includes application IlsaDrip Forte, IlsaStimset and other formulations based on Gelamine®with a high content of organic nitrogen, amino acids and other macro and micro elements.

With high temperatures, vegetative development must be directed towards increasing plant robustness and compactness while limiting heat stress.
For this reason, specific formulations must be used:

  • IlsaTermikobiostimulant with a high content of free amino acids from enzymatic hydrolysis, especially proline and glycine, highly effective precisely in conditions of thermal stress;
  • IlsaLeva AND Ilsa Vegetusplant biostimulants based on enzymatic hydrolyzate from Fabaceae, first p a strong effect on vegetative development and flower clusters and the other on flowering progression and uniformity.

All absolutely natural biostimulants and miscible with any formulation based on micronutrients or even pesticides.

And who produces organic greenhouse tomatoes?

Hard to believe, but all these biostimulants and organic fertilizers, widely used in traditional practice, are also allowed in organic farming.
